Franchise opportunity with market leader

-

TWO FRANCHISES in a nationwide blinds-andcurtains supply and installation company are for sale in Wellington.

The Venluree franchise for Wellington Central extends from Wellington City to Pukerua Bay; the Wellington Region franchise covers the Hutt Valley, Wairarapa and Kapiti Coast.

“This is a chance for a new owner to capitalise on the strong foothold Venluree already has in the capital,” says Brendan O’Connor, of Link Business, who’s marketing the franchises with Gary Kaye.

He says since it was set up in 1966 to clean and repair blinds and curtains, Venluree has become an innovative leader in the manufacture, sales and installation of automatic and electronic screens, blinds and awnings, as well as the more standard products.

“Currently the business is run by a single operator but there is plenty of scope for a partnership or husband and wife team to build on the growth opportunities that exist.

“Equally a single owner could easily contract out or use an employee for installation while the owner concentrates on the selling and consultation side, or vice versa.”

Kaye says the 2500 customers on Venluree’s Wellington database provide a steady stream of referrals and repeat business.

“But, regardless of the business model a new owner decides on, more resources would immediately translate into more business.”

Residential business accounts for most of the work, but commercial opportunities also abound, Kaye says.

“Venluree’s strong focus on product development and consumer trends has resulted in it offering some of the most technologically advanced products and services available.”

He says Venluree specifically designs its products to weather New Zealand’s unique environment.

“They work together with interior designers, architects and developers to achieve the best results, and have a wide range of colour choices, including environmentally friendly and energy-efficient fabrics.”

O’Connor says systems and training are in place to ensure all franchisees deliver the high levels of service for which Venluree is renowned.

“Head office maintains the main website and coordinates the countrywide marketing that generates numerous enquiries for franchisees.

“There’s also a central call centre that generates a large percentage of business and a nationwide social media marketing campaign.”

A national television marketing campaign will be trialled early next year.

Venluree also has brokered a deal with a major nationwide residential building organisation and has relationships with other developers around the country.

“Locally, home shows have proved a valuable marketing tool,” O’Connor says. “It’s not unusual for a stand at a Wellington home show to generate two months’ forward work.

“Most of the products are New Zealand made in Venluree’s own factory, reducing lead times and ensuring any issues can be dealt with promptly.

“A new top-of-the-line computer software package designed to streamline the orderto-delivery process has just been developed and will go live shortly.

“This will be of huge benefit to the individual franchisees, in terms of the time saved quoting, ordering and invoicing.”

The business has an asking price of $145,000 (plus gst, if any).
