PM’s Damocles moment?

-

In the wake of Ihuma¯ tao, a simple question: is the Treaty settlement process a fraud? Are the settlements, including land and money transfers, agreed between recognised Ma¯ ori authorities and the Crown fair, reasonable and robust enough to stand in a court, or not?

Supporting the land protesters at Ihuma¯ tao could seem to suggest that the settlement including this land is not fair or reasonable. If that is so in this case, what of all the other settlements; are they all up for renegotiation?

Not supporting the protesters could seem to suggest a lack of empathy for genuine grievances.
