Guns do the killing

Martin van Beynen (Is the gun buyback worth the money, Aug 3) mentions the notion that guns don’t kill people, people kill people.

Straight from the American National Rifle Association. Just look at the statistics: more people are shot by people who have guns than are shot by people who haven’t got guns. The only difference is having guns or not having guns.

Therefore reduce the number of guns until the people shot by those with guns is equal to those shot by people without guns. The people without guns haven’t shot anyone. Zilch, zero.
