Singer’s son playing for NZ

-

Liam Stewart, the son of Kiwi model Rachel Hunter and British singer Rod Stewart, has been selected in New Zealand’s ice hockey team for next month’s series against Australia after a standout domestic campaign. The 24-year-old Stewart has been in prolific form for NZ Ice Hockey League frontrunners Queenstown Stampede, scoring a competitionbest 18 goals during the regular season. The Stampede have qualified through to the final, where they will meet West Auckland Admirals in a three-game series. Born in London, Stewart has previously represented Great Britain on the international arena, helping the team win the Division 1B World Championship in 2017. Manchester United made Harry Maguire the world’s most expensive defender after signing him from Premier League rivals Leicester City for around NZ$153 million. The 26-year-old centre-back signed a six-year contract with an option for a further season. A person with knowledge of the deal said that United had struck a deal with Leicester to pay £80 million for Maguire. The person spoke on condition of anonymity as the financial details are not being disclosed. The fee eclipses the deals for Matthijs de Ligt to leave Ajax for Juventus last month for €75 million and for Virgil van Dijk to join Liverpool from Southampton for up to £75 million in January 2018.
