In 2018, the High Court ordered Aliki Serepisos to pay $332,000 to General Finance. It had earlier sold an apartment she owned for $580,000 but went to court to recover the balance of the money it was owed.

Serepisos argued that it had been sold under value – and should have been worth closer to $1 million – and a higher offer had been ignored. But the judge noted that she had not made any repayments on the loan in the time she had held it.

Aliki Serepisos was bankrupt on February 4.

She and Terry Serepisos have also been involved in a dispute over three Miramar properties, which were sold in mortgagee sales last year.

The purchaser of the property declared they lived in, Matthew Ryan, also prompted the mortgagee sale of the two others. He told media he provided loans worth $800,000 to Terry Serepisos, who had power of attorney over his mother’s affairs, and used the properties as collateral.

Ryan said not a cent was repaid, but he held back on taking any action for a year after the loan was due.

The pair remained in the house they had lived in for more than two months after it sold, despite Ryan’s attempts to remove them.

General Finance said it did not want to comment.
