Sunfield. Tomorrow’s town today.

-

Sunfield offers a radical new approach to living. A neighbourhood with far fewer roads and entirely solar powered, resulting in more affordable homes. The technology and expertise needed to build this town is available and ready to go, today.

How will living in Sunfield be different? Sunfield is designed as a series of hubs. This requires very few roads, no driveways or garages taking up space. All houses and buildings will have solar panels feeding into a connected ‘Sun Grid’.

How will people get around?

The Sunfield loop provides vehicle access in, out and around Sunfield. The hightech electric ‘Sunbus’ transports you to within 250m of nearly everywhere in the neighbourhood and to the Southern train line. There will also be ample cycle and walkways.

Will there be parking?

Visitor parking is provided for each hub, as well as parking for the Sunfield carshare and some resident parking.

What happens with all the extra space?

Fewer roads, driveways and garages means more space for parks, playgrounds and community facilities. It also means more spacious and affordable homes.

Is it possible to power an entire neighbourhood on Solar?

Yes. The technology is available today. Each home’s solar panels feed into large communal batteries, which are connected to the batteries in other hubs. Sunfield will connect to the national grid for times of surplus generation and low sun periods.

Is it just houses?

No, there are retail and commercial precincts attached to each residential hub. There is also an allocation for schools, hospital, industrial and commercial areas providing substantial local employment.
