Answer in plane sight

The continued hand-wringing about our aged air force plane is becoming farcical. There is a simple solution and I’m quite astounded the past head honcho of Air New Zealand hasn’t thought of it.

Hasn’t Air New Zealand still got planes parked up in a desert? The Government could or should lease one off our national carrier, and then all the problems ought to go away.

We would not see the embarrassi­ng sagas that arise every time we have a politician or dignitary who wants to go somewhere and can’t because of an old and obsolete plane!

Sounds like the press pack had a nice day even if they didn’t get to fly. Bernard Lilburn, Feilding the less there is for such things as health, education, infrastruc­ture and many other things, which is the real responsibi­lity of the State, for everyone in New Zealand.

I understand the frustratio­n of the traffic created by the constructi­on of these new lanes, but I think it will definitely be worth it. They may take a while to make but they will get people out on their bikes and make traffic flow smoothly. summer days. This, however, is overshadow­ed by the dark hangover that those outside of the Newtown community do not see. Namely, litter and other disgracefu­l amounts of waste.

The city is one of the most educated places in the country, along with aligning itself politicall­y to Green on the spectrum, both in local and national politics, so why then do we leave the place looking like the streets of Kolkata? I hear people complainin­g about Nick Leggett, Barbara McKerrow, and Tory Whanau, but take some responsibi­lity for your actions and let US do better, Wellington.
