In a rare move for survivors of sexual assault, Te Wiata chose to lift her name suppressio­n during sentencing, but her identity could not be revealed until 2022 as Stuart had pursued permanent name suppressio­n.

“I thought that if I have my name printed maybe people would see that we’re not just statistics, we are actual people that have these crimes committed to them,” she told Stuff at the time.

Mander says no one from within the theatre company has so far complained about Stuart.

He says he received two complaints from outside the company – one came from an anonymous source, who did not respond to Mander’s invitation for an in-person discussion.

He says the second complainer seemed satisfied after discussing the safety plan in place for the cast and crew.

Te Wiata told Stuff she’s aware Stuart had changed his name, “I assume because when you search for Harrison Nicol, it comes up with the article about the court case”.

“I know actors commonly change their name when pursuing a career in performing arts, but I find it incredibly ironic how he’s pursuing a career, or at least a hobby, that involves becoming someone else and putting on a performanc­e.”
