Massey University confirms base for work in Singapore

Massey University has confirmed the location of its international “branch” in Singapore and aims to have 5000 overseas students enrolled there by 2026. The university announced last year it would run courses in Singapore at existing facilities of other education providers. Now it has formalised a partnership with private education institution PSB Academy. The two organisations signed an agreement in Singapore yesterday, which was witnessed by the Prime Minister Christopher Luxon during his visit to South East Asia. Accompanied by Massey vice-chancellor, professor Jan Thomas, Luxon heard how Massey aimed to enrol 5000 overseas students by 2026, where Singapore would be a key contributor. The work with PSB Academy was a significant expansion beyond traditional overseas teaching partnerships and was a first for New Zealand universities. Massey will offer Singaporean students access to quality New Zealand education programmes from its colleges. Luxon expressed his support. “This collaboration reflects the shared commitment of New Zealand and Singapore to advance education and foster global partnerships.” Thomas said the agreement presented an exciting opportunity to bring Massey and New Zealand’s offerings to Singapore. The academic programmes would be tailored to Massey’s strengths, ensuring they met market needs and avoided duplication. “Singapore is an important established market, which makes it a logical base for expansion into the Southeast Asian market and beyond,” Thomas said.
