Case of every cloud has a Christmas lining

-

It was a Christmas of two halves for Cantabrians weather-wise.

The day began yesterday with warm conditions, and while the southwest change did bring rain by about 2pm, it held off long enough for many to at least grab a few hours of sunshine.

Christchurch reached the midtwenties Celsius by midday but temperatures dipped into the midteens after the rain arrived.

MetService duty forecaster Leigh Matheson said the day had turned ‘‘a little bit murky’’ and this was likely to linger through to tomorrow.

Cantabrians can expect cloudy weather with periods of rain and temperatures in the mid-teens.

Matheson said there would be a general improvement heading into the weekend, with things drying up from tomorrow and more fine breaks.
