Papanui tramp champs
The Canterbury Secondary Schools Gymnastics Championships took place at the Olympia gymnasium in Christchurch on Tuesday.
With New Zealand representatives competing, there was stiff competition in the trampoline competition as well as a high standard in both the rhythmic and artistic gymnastics events.
Papanui High School walked away with the team trampoline title.
Rangi Ruru Girls’ School was second by just over three points and Marian College third.
St Thomas of Canterbury College student Reegan Laidlaw took home the elite boys’ title after beating Cashmere High School student Scott Phillips.
The Elite girls’ competition was extremely competitive with the top three girls separated by less than two points. St Andrew’s College student Elizabeth Stevenson took home the gold after a consistent performance across both routines.
Kaiapoi High School’s Bronwyn Dibb held off Villa Maria College’s Madaline Davidson by half a point to get the silver medal.
In the rhythmic gymnastics Cashmere’s Maggie Takami took home the international category after a strong hoop routine.
Christchurch Girls’ High School student Isabella Ralston won the Club A division and Villa Maria’s Anna Hooker snared the Club B event title.
