Lower insurance premiums for former soldiers - NZ First

-

NZ First is calling on Defence Minister Gerry Brownlee to step in over insurers charging higher premiums of former soldiers. Defence spokesman Ron Mark said the death of former SAS Corporal Steve Askin who was killed helping fight the Christchurch fires - had highlighted discrimination against former defence personnel over insurance. He was angry insurers were able to claim that because retired soldiers could be called into the reserves, they should pay higher premiums.
