Kiwi killed in avalanche

A Kiwi businessman and adventurer has been swept to his death in an avalanche at a ski resort in Japan. Sam Kerr, 35, from Dunedin was a resident of Kutchan, Hokkaido and lived there with his four-yearold son and wife. His body was extracted from under the snow at Niseko ski resort in Kutchan, Hokkaido following the avalanche on Saturday. The avalanche was reported to be about 200 metres wide and 350 metres long.
