Labour: NZ hands tied over American diplomat
Labour leader Andrew Little says New Zealand’s hands appear tied over the US Embassy refusing to waive diplomatic immunity for a staffer wanted for questioning by police. Police wanted to speak to embassy attache Colin White after an incident in Lower Hutt but a request by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade was declined by the US Government. White has since left New Zealand. Little said New Zealand should be kept in the loop over action taken by US officials.
