Morgan’s super calculatio­n

This is the second time I have read Gareth Morgan saying ‘‘My wife and I don’t need the $40,000 superannua­tion we will collect next year’’. Where does this come from? My wife and I get $27,508.32 (net) per annum in National Super. Tax is not so high as to whittle $12,491.68 off our entitlemen­t, surely. If so, then it’s no wonder MPs can afford to globe-trot and trough wallow as they do. Terry Trembath Amberley
