Such is the recent success of Marcus Armstrong in his European Formula 4 campaigns, he is now in the hunt for two separate series titles.

Last weekend in Germany at the ADAC F4 Series at the Oschersleben circuit, Christchurch’s Armstrong moved into third overall on the points table after cruising to a scintillating win in race one.

He then posted a second place in race two, only to bring home even more points by finishing sixth in race three.

He has now been on the podium five times in the last six races. Heading to the Mugello circuit in Italy this weekend, the Europeanbased teenager currently leads the Italian F4 single seater championship.

Three weeks ago, Armstrong took his first race victory at the third round of the Italian Formula 4 Championships held in hot conditions at the Vallelunga Circuit in Italy.

Coupled with a further second and fourth placings, Armstrong now leads the series by just one point from Italian Lorenzo Colombo.

Le Mans winners back in action at Nurburgring

Le Mans 24 Hour winners Brendon Hartley, Earl Bamber and Timo Bernhard are back in action this weekend as the Porsche LMP Team enters its home race at the Nu¨ rburgring on 16 July.

The trio have commented that the Le Mans result is ‘only just starting to sink in’. They have already been back in the car testing their new high down-force aero kit and starting to refocus on the remaining rounds in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).

Following three of nine WEC rounds, and after collecting double points at Le Mans, Porsche now leads the manufacturers’ standings on 111 points, 32.5 points ahead of Toyota (78.5 points).

In the drivers’ championship, Bamber, Hartley and Bernhard have scored 83 points giving them a 17 point lead over the best-placed Toyota trio.

Despite a deeply disappointing Le Mans 24 Hours race last month, the GAZOO Toyota Racing team remains in a close fight with Porsche for both the manufacturers’ and drivers’ World Championships and is targeting a return to winning form at the Nu¨ rburgring.

Dixon heads to Honda Indy Toronto

Scott Dixon heads to the Honda Indy Toronto still leading the IndyCar Series, albeit with a reduced lead of eight points over Helio Castroneves.

At the last round in Iowa Dixon went into the weekend with a penalty from the previous round at Road America because of a pit lane violation.

This meant he had to sit out twenty minutes of the first practice losing valuable setup time for the Iowa Corn 300. While happy to finish and collect points, Dixon was never happy with the car’s race set-up. McElrea in title contention In Australia, Queensland-based Kiwi Hunter McElrea has moved into title contention in the competitive Australia Formula Ford Series with just two rounds remaining.

At Queensland Raceway over the weekend the teenager finished on the podium three times including his third race win of the season. September sees drivers compete at the Sydney Motorsport Park (15-17 Sept) and then at the final round at Phillip Island (29 Sept-1 Oct).
