Commitment lacks on bags
What a joke that Retail NZ want a levy on plastic bags (The Press, Jul 18). They are the culprits who peddle these environmental time bombs and have caused decades of destruction.
One would have thought that retailers would have reintroduced paper bags on their own initiative rather than lobbying for a tax on their customers.
Perhaps a better approach if they want government intervention would be to request a zero tolerance on all plastic bags if retailers want to renew their liquor licences. Then you’ll see action. Neil Clephane Merivale
