Kiwi Korean commitment increased and extended
New Zealand has extended by two years – to August 2019 – and increased its contribution to the United Nations Command Military Armistice Commission (UNCMAC) in South Korea. Defence Minister Mark Mitchell said the Defence Force had five officers deployed to UNCMAC. An additional officer would be deployed into United Nations Command Headquarters. UNCMAC is responsible for supervising and monitoring the Armistice Agreement signed at the end of the Korean War.
