Unpublished electoral roll for voters with safety fears

Privacy Commissioner John Edwards has reminded voters there is an unpublished electoral roll they can join if they believe that having their details recorded on the published roll could threaten their safety or that of their families. Applicants must provide a current protection order or restraining order, a statutory declaration from police or a letter from a lawyer, employer, a Justice of the Peace or similar to support their claim. On polling day, they will cast a ‘‘Special Declaration Vote’’.
