Alker runs hot

-

Kiwi golfer Steven Alker wasted no time in getting to work at the Barbasol Championship in Alabama yesterday, finding himself in an early tie for first place. Alker birdied six of his opening eight holes to hold a share of the lead at six-under-par. However, he immediately dropped off the top spot on his ninth hole of the day – the parfour 18th – with a bogey. Coming into the second half of his round, Alker looked to maintain his position near the top and notched three pars in a row. However, another bogey on the par-four fourth hole saw him drop another shot and fall to a tie for ninth place at four-under. Alker still had five holes left to play in his opening round after play was suspended due to fading light.
