CCC inviting more flooding

As I understand it, the Christchurch City Council is about to recommend to itself that the Cranford Basin be built on. Previous councils, going back over 150 years, have avoided building on this precious green space and kept it as a flood drain, but this lot seem hell bent on reducing one of the city’s few remaining green spaces.

It is bad enough that a large area of the basin is being carved up for the Northern Motorway, further reducing its effectiveness in floods.

Who other than greedy developers will benefit? Not the locals whose quality of life will be further eroded by more people, cars, etc.

The east frame development has been designed to cater for housing and is under way. Alan Johnson Papanui
