Dad-time for son’s rugby game trumps PM duties
Prime Minister Bill English is putting his parental responsibilities ahead of running the country tomorrow when he’ll skip question time in Parliament to attend the 1st XV rugby clash between St Patrick’s Town and Silverstream. He says he’s attending in his ‘‘capacity as a father, not Prime Minister’’ to watch his youngest son, Xavier, who is captain of St Pat’s. While English himself attended Silverstream and played in the 1st XV, he said he’d be backing his son’s team for the win.
