Hot Todd left out in the cold by selectors
Whilst I am reluctant to criticise the All Black selectors, after the great job they have done over recent years, I am absolutely baffled how they could have omitted Matt Todd from the All Blacks squad for the upcoming Rugby Championship. Todd was undoubtedly the top No 7 throughout the entire Super Rugby season and this was reinforced by his selection as 7 on the All Blacks website in the Super Rugby team of the tournament.
After the semi final, when Todd clearly was superior to the opposing 7, and his performance in the final, which was simply outstanding, he still didn’t make the squad. I wondered whether the any of the selectors had seen the finals but I noticed on the ABs website that Steve Hansen had commented on the Crusaders win.
As a rugby fan here in Queensland said to me, if the best player in his position can’t get into a large All Blacks squad, the selectors must know something that the fans in New Zealand and the other participating countries don’t. Eugene Sullivan Queensland
Crusaders snubbed
Sanzaar have named their team of the season and not one Crusader makes the cut. Now for a team with a dominant scrum and lineout, outstanding defense coupled with the fact that they actually won the comp,I bet a few other fans are also surprised.
Still, I suppose our champion team is better than a team of champions. But I still can’t get past the fact the judges must be on a different planet to the rest of us. Jim Trathen Parklands
