THE NO FUSS BLOWDRY

EXPRESS BEAUTY WITH SARAH SIMPSON

-

Mastering a blow dry like the professionals might not be as hard as you think.

There are a few factors that come into faking a salon blow-dry, but once you’ve nailed them, you might be surprised with your abilities.

Essentially, other than of course a hairdryer, you need a prep product, a brush and finally, a finishing product.

Look for a prep products that works to shorten your blow-dry time. KMS’s Thermashape product works to do just that but also has a heat protectant in it, which is a bonus. Sprays like this coat the hair to protect while also help absorb moisture. Spritz some into towel-dried hair before reaching for your hairdryer.

Use your hairdryer to almost totally dry off your hair – there’s no need to reach for the brush yet, as styling doesn’t come into play until your hair is 90 per cent dry. Give your hair a good burst to ensure, when it comes to finishing, that there aren’t any damp patches.

Then go in with a large brush to smooth and finesse your hair. VIA’s blow-dry brush has been specifically designed to allow air to be vented evenly so you’re left with a smooth, silky finish.

The final step is to add a finishing product – I personally like a shine spray. A good finisher will also help to hold your style while smoothing down any flyaways. You don’t want to weigh down your new ’do so less is best – just a quick spritz is all you need.
