Political reporting legend Ian Templeton bows out

He’s seen 21 governments, 15 prime ministers and more than 600 MPs; Press Gallery doyen Ian Templeton is retiring after 60 years in the job. The 88-year-old’s distinguished and unique career was recognised by MPs of all colours after Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters passed a motion to recognise his contributions to journalism. A guiding figure for generations of political reporters who have come up behind him; there will only ever be one Templeton.
