Dreamliner fault
Air New Zealand is to cancel some flights after a second engine fault on its Dreamliners. A flight to Japan had to return earlier this week after the pilot elected to shut down one of the plane’s engines as a precaution. A second issue arose on Wednesday on a flight to Argentina after it experienced an engine issue shortly after leaving Auckland and was also forced to return. Engine makers RollsRoyce says some of the Trent 1000 engines in the airline’s Boeing 787-9 fleet require maintenance sooner than previously indicated. The Transport Accident Investigation Commission has opened inquiries into both events.
