A tribute to Jim Anderton: ‘Hope he likes it’

-

When mowing the lawn I thought I might get a little creative.

Had to get up a long ladder to get the shot but it should look great from the incoming flights.

I’m sure Jim can see it from where he is. Hope he likes it.

A man with a caring heart

I feel I must acknowledge the life of Jim Anderton.

I had cause when CYFs uplifted my granddaughter at 9.45pm. They said she would be away for 28 possibly 56 days. I tried every member of the then National Government and started going through the Opposition.

I telephoned Jim’s home on a Sunday evening not expecting much but his response was ‘‘Can you be at my office at 10 o’clock tomorrow morning’’.

Jim’s team went to work and we had her home in four days. He was a man with a caring heart and nothing was too much trouble for him or his team.

Jim we salute you. The Parker family Avonhead

An open letter to Jim

I have never met you but I want to honour all the things about you that set an example.

You stood by your principles, no matter the outcome. You foresaw the fallaciousness of Rogernomics. You knew the impact on families and communities.

Especially I want to thank you for showing people how to get on, to listen to each other, to learn from, and strengthen our commonality. I honour you for your generosity to our country, your kindness, your understanding. Ve´ ronique Cornille Devonport
