Bad dress rehearsal

-

Australian TV broadcaster Channel Nine has had its media accreditation for the Commonwealth Games suspended - only two days out from the event.

It comes after the station played footage of Saturday night’s opening ceremony dress rehearsal on Sunday’s 6pm news.

In a statement, Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation (GOLDOC) confirmed it had informed Nine Network Australia the company’s media accreditation was suspended ‘‘until further notice’’.

‘‘GOLDOC expects all media organisations to abide by the agreed rules,’’ its statement said.

A Nine spokeswoman said ‘‘an error’’ was made in its news broadcast.

Media accreditation includes access for reporters to Games venues.

The Seven Network has exclusive broadcast rights in Australia to the Games, with plans to screen 320 hours of coverage.
