Steam excluded by innovative dome

-

As mornings grow cooler and the urge wanes to throw open the bathroom window while showering, steam – the old enemy – threatens to assert its influence.

Damp walls, dripping windows and mildewed ceilings are the unhealthy consequence of a steam invasion which becomes increasingly apparent as temperatures begin their seasonal drop.

As the bathroom swirls with waterladen steam, it is hard to imagine a remedy that would dismiss water vapour without trace.

Think upon it no more because such a remedy is close at hand. The Showerdome® shower top performs the task in an instant.

The unique, clear acrylic dome is simply fitted to your shower cubicle to prevent steam forming in the bathroom.

A New Zealand invention, Showerdome® is also owned and operated in this country and is manufactured in Tauranga – a classic example of Kiwis looking after Kiwis.

Many thousands of New Zealanders are already enjoying the benefits of a drier, healthier home with Showerdome® shower top.

Where does all the steam go? you may ask.

The answer is simple. There isn’t any. Steam is only created when you mix warm, moist air with cold air. Showerdome® shower top is the barrier between those two air masses, which means no steam forms in your shower – or your bathroom.

Research conducted by the University of Waikato proves that a Showerdome® shower top, when used correctly, can pay for itself within two years.

Independent tests conducted over eight months to take into account both summer and winter temperatures, proved Showerdome® shower top to be successful at lowering humidity and sustaining air temperature in the bathroom. This greatly reduced dampness, as no steam was created outside the shower cubicle.

A University of Waikato professor, Dr James Carson, says the results highlighted the short and long term monetary benefits of owning a Showerdome® shower top.

‘‘Depending on the consumer’s use of electric heaters to preheat or dry out a bathroom, plus their use of heated towel rails, the Showerdome® shower top could save a consumer hundreds of dollars per year,’’ Carson says.

As well as monetary benefits, Showerdome® shower top also offers significant health benefits.

The primary health benefit is that, because no steam is generated from the shower, condensation, mould, mildew and mites in adjoining rooms are reduced, making for warmer, drier, healthier Kiwi homes.

According to estimates compiled by the Waikato University research paper, heating a bathroom for half an hour per day with a 2.4kw electric heater would cost around $100 per annum, while using a 0.15kw heated towel rail for 12 hours per day would cost around $156 per annum.

Showerdome® shower top also renders mirror demisters and ceiling fans redundant. Combining all of these energy saving opportunities, installing a Showerdome® shower top may save home owners around $250 per year in energy costs alone.

Showerdome chief executive Maurice O’Reilly says the findings of the study are testament to the product’s value in New Zealand homes.

‘‘Anecdotal feedback from our customers related to savings has shown they have far less use for heaters, mirror demisters, ceiling fans, or heated towel rails, thanks to Showerdome® shower top,’’ O’Reilly says.

‘‘Customers have also expressed the benefits in terms of reduced maintenance costs and reduced allergy symptoms.

‘‘Many have said their wallpaper doesn’t peel any more, mould and mildew doesn’t grow in the bathroom, and the house doesn’t feel as damp.’’

A Showerdome® shower top costs $299 (GST included) plus installation of about $135.
