Proper cat care

Duncan Garner and Gareth Morgan want to kill all cats.

It is high time they woke up and smelt the flying fur. Cats are great companions and give pleasure to many humans. It has been proved that the purr is therapeuti­c.

We have two cats, spayed, chipped and they have a curfew, so no night-time hanky panky.

The garden is full of birds, but they are fed at height so have plenty of time to escape from felines – not necessaril­y ours.

I am not a dog person, and although they are reported to cause havoc with humans, I do not advocate killing them.

What is needed here is a large dose of common sense.

The problem is irresponsi­ble humans who should not be allowed to have anything to do with any animal.

J Wake, Mt Pleasant possibilit­y should alert citizens to the need to demand urgent action from government­s around the world.

Even a less severe outcome will have a serious impact on the global economy and internatio­nal security.

How interestin­g, therefore, that this article warranted a half-page while the sports and racing news filled five pages. What does that say about how much we care for our kids’ future?

G Townsend, Kennedys Bush changing current, out-dated work practices.

Their move to accomplish their work in four days instead of five, and still be paid for five, is being keenly observed abroad. It deserves to be replicated widely, where practicabl­e and acceptable to all parties.

We live and work in a different world now to that in which the five-day working week was created.
