$30m for two schools

The Government is investing $30 million to expand two schools, giving them permanent sites. Associate Education Minister Kelvin Davis said Manukura, a designated character school in Palmerston North, would receive $20m for a permanent new school, while Te Wharekura o Nga¯ Purapura o Te Aroha would receive $10m. The funding was allocated in Budget 2018. The funding announcement came as the education sector as a whole is looking for more money with primary teachers striking for the first time since 1994.
