KidsCan warning

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says the Government is keeping an eye on the impact of its families package, as KidsCan warns of ‘‘heartbreaking’’ deprivation. The organisation sent out a record number of food items to schools – 1.28 million items – at the beginning of the third term. Ardern said it was still early days with the families package only coming into effect on July 1. ‘‘We know families are doing it tough ... We’ll be keeping a close eye on whether it’s delivering for those low and modest income earners.’’
