Harry and Meghan’s dream itinerary

-

Kayaking past golden beaches and a spa at the end of the day – Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s New Zealand itinerary has the potential to be tranquil heaven.

But even those jostling for position to chaperone the Duke and Duchess of Sussex doubt they will get to do what they would most like on their flying visit of the country.

Little detail has so far been revealed by Kensington Palace about the royal pair’s expected movements. What we know so far is they will visit Wellington, Abel Tasman National Park, Auckland and Rotorua from October 28 to November 1.

There’s clues in those locations though – a geyser adored by past royals and a spot of bird conservation appear likely activities for the Duke and Duchess in between the handshakes.

The chief executive of Wilsons Abel Tasman, Darryl Wilson, predicted the focus of the royals’ visit would be environmental.

‘‘Abel Tasman Birdsong Trust and Project Janszoon’s work fit very well within the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy conservation project,’’ Wilson said.

But it was ‘‘early days’’ with ‘‘no detail’’.

In Rotorua, Te Tatau o Te Arawa chairman Te Taru White said Harry would likely make a beeline for Te Puia’s Pohutu geyser. Going to see it would allow Harry to follow in the historical path of his parents and grandparents – who also visited it.
