Maryville Courts full of spring vigour
After a successful year, with near full occupancy of its 65 villas and apartments, Maryville Courts is not sitting back and smelling the abundant roses springing to life in the village.
The completion of the refurbishment upstairs in the community centre earlier in the year provides for a craft room, exercise room and a beautifully decorated billiard room furnished with cigar-leather sofas and plush chairs.
It’s important the village keeps up to date and this facelift will give us a fresh, modern look. Suzanne Reynen Maryville Courts village manager
A large, raised vege garden, installed at the request of several green-fingered residents, has proved highly successful, with a variety of produce making its way into more than a few villa kitchens.
The homegrown veges are complemented by the various fruit trees in the orchard.
Next on the agenda is a several months long process that involves stripping and replacing all the cladding from the villas, removing dated architraves and, of course, fully repainting the exteriors of the units and community centre.
‘‘It’s important the village keeps up to date and this facelift will give us a fresh, modern look,’’ says village manager Suzanne Reynen.
‘‘Although it has been repainted in the past, this is an ambitious project and we are all excited to see the end result.’’
Creating a strong sense of community is a priority at Maryville Courts, as is fostering a strong rapport between the village’s management team and residents.
Suzanne meets with residents once a month to discuss what activities they choose to have added to their fixed calendar of events, whether it be a speaker, a pianist or a barbecue, to name but a few.
Maryville’s inner-city location has proved a strong selling point, affording residents the convenience of city living without the price tag.
So, if you are over 65, thinking of downsizing in your retirement, and looking for affordability, convenience, and a sense of community, Maryville Courts might just be the place for you.
Maryville Courts is overseen by a Board of Trustees and is registered as a Charitable Trust.
