The opin­ion piece (Oct 11) by the In­ter­is­lander Act­ing CEO stated a ferry should do the job 365 days a year. Any sea­man or ma­rine en­gi­neer can tell you ev­ery work­ing ves­sel needs an­nual dock­ing and re­fit­ting, a process that takes weeks.
