Another death in France
French rugby has been rocked by the death of another young player, the sport’s fourth fatality in eight months there. AFP reports that 23-year-old student Nathan Soyeux, who was not registered with the French Rugby Federation (FFR), passed away in Dijon on Monday. He had been admitted to hospital after feeling unwell following a tackle at a tournament for engineering schools. He had complained of nausea and then lost consciousness. He was put in an induced coma for two weeks, but his health deteriorated following efforts to bring him around, according to his engineering school, Esirem. Along with World Rugby, the FFR will organise a global forum in March to discuss player health and the evolution of the game’s laws.
