Klemmer abuse caught on camera

-

The NRL’s match review committee has charged David Klemmer for abusing a ground official, while Cronulla winger Ronaldo Mulitalo’s season hangs by a thread.

Klemmer will be fined A$1150 (NZ$1225) if he accepts an early guilty plea after video footage captured him swearing at an NRL official after he was ordered back onto the field to pack down a scrum while trying to leave play.

The incident happened in the dying minutes of Newcastle’s humiliating 54-10 loss at Panthers Stadium on Sunday.

It capped a disastrous month for the Knights, whose coach Nathan Brown quit three weeks out from the finals with the side still a chance of qualifying for the top eight.

He will be replaced next year by long-time Storm and current Roosters assistant Adam O’Brien.

Mulitalo could miss Cronulla’s elimination final against the Sea Eagles on Saturday after being hit with a grade one shoulder charge on Tigers halfback Luke Brooks.

The incident wasn’t penalised during the game.

He will miss one game with an early guilty plea and two if he chooses to fight it at the judiciary.
