InterCity starts again

-

InterCity bus services will start up again from tomorrow. Services will resume to most major towns and communities across the country. The buses will run with fewer available seats to meet coronavirus physical distancing requirements, which means some services could run at a loss. Not all bus stops will be available. Chief executive John Thorburn said the company will not be able to run at a loss over the long term, and was in discussions with the Government for support so it can sustain operations and expand the network back to what it was before Covid-19. It will be running about a third of its normal service, covering 70 per cent of its usual network. Prior to lockdown, InterCity carried 1.5 million passengers a year on more than 100 daily services. Domestic travellers accounted for 85 per cent of all passengers.
