’Miracle’ enzyme helps naturally

-

Serrapeptase, an enzyme produced in silkworms, could become one of the world’s most widely used natural health remedies due to its ability to replace the majority of anti-inflammatory drugs and bypass operations, say health researchers.

It is nature’s answer to pain, chronic inflammation and clogged arteries, they say.

Enzymes are essential for life. Constantly working to build and regenerate the body, they help digest food, break down toxins and cleanse the blood, in addition to thousands of other functions.

A lack of enzymes leads to food intolerances, allergies, digestive issues, disease and poor health. Studies show an average 70 year old has only 20 per cent of the enzymes found in the body of a 20 year old.

Serrapeptase is a natural anti-inflammatory enzyme that can clean, clear and reduce inflammation while dissolving non-living tissue such as blood clots, cysts, arterial plaque and mucus. One of its major benefits is its ability to reduce pain.

Health researcher Robert Redfern presents the details in his book The ‘Miracle’ Enzyme Is Serrapeptase.

In it, he claims nothing surpasses the ability of serrapeptase to safely stop inappropriate inflammation, no matter the cause or the location. It can even cross the blood brain barrier, Redfern says.

The serrapeptase enzyme was first found in the intestine of the silkworm in the late 1960s. The silkworm uses it to dissolve the hard cocoon, allowing the moth to escape, as well as to digest the tough mulberry leaves it feeds on.

Serrapeptase is now able to be produced commercially by a fermentation process using the microorganism Serratia E15, and is prescribed by doctors across Europe and Asia.

It has been shown to clear mucus and catarrh as well as swelling and non-cancerous breast cysts.

In Germany, Dr Hans Nieper clinically researched serrapeptase and found it could clear blocked arteries and prevent the need for bypass operations.

In the UK, pharmacist Dennis Gore told the BBC about a man aged in his 60s who was wheeled into his pharmacy breathless due to emphysema and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

A past heavy smoker, the man was barely able to speak, was on antibiotics and oxygen, and regularly got bad infections.

Dennis prescribed two tablets of serrapeptase on an empty stomach, four times per day. Three weeks later, the man walked into the pharmacy and in a loud, clear voice said: ‘‘Do you remember me?’’ He proceeded to tell Dennis he was no longer on antibiotics, nor oxygen cylinders feeling great.

Clinical studies over the past

40 years have shown serrapeptase to help with, among other conditions:

■ blocked arteries

■ cardiovascular conditions

■ arthritis

■ autoimmune disease

■ tumours. Serrapeptase is available in Christchurch from Marshall’s Health & Natural Therapy.

The store’s owner, Julian Marshall, says serrapeptase has been shown to be a very safe supplement which, according to researchers, can be used with all medication, including warfarin, statins and aspirin.

However, he advises people using serrapeptase to let their doctor know because medications may need to be reduced or stopped as the need for them reduces.

‘‘Remember,’’ ‘‘healthy people drugs.’’
