Man flees hospital with drip in arm

-

A man having seizures after consuming a cocktail of drugs including ecstasy fled Dunedin Hospital with an IV line still in his arm.

The bizarre incident unfolded in Dunedin on Sunday, when police were called to the man’s address and found him having a seizure after taking drugs, including MDMA (ecstasy).

He was taken to hospital, where his treatment included an intravenous line. Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen said police were called to the man’s address again – some 6 kilometres from the hospital – after he fled with the drip still in his arm.

He was still having seizures, and St John paramedics returned the 35-year-old to hospital, Dinnissen said.
