$121m hospital opens

Greymouth’s long-awaited new hospital is finally open to patients more than two years later than planned. The new emergency department at Te Nikau Greymouth hospital and health centre on the West Coast opened its doors to the public yesterday at 7am. The new maternity suite opened at midday, with all medical, surgical and children’s wards to open today. The blood testing, outpatient and allied health services including physiother­apy and occupation­al therapy and Greymouth Medical Centre will be open on Monday.
