Kiwis up for Emmys
Taika Waititi has been nominated for an Emmy Award for his voiceover work in Disney’s live-action Star Wars series, The Mandalorian. Another of Waititi’s projects, the television series What We Do in the Shadows, based on the 2014 mockumentary of the same name, also received a swag of Emmy nominations, including outstanding comedy series. The show was created by Jemaine Clement, with Waititi serving as an executive producer on the spinoff series. Waititi’s Emmy nomination is for outstanding character voiceover performance for his role as the bounty hunter droid IG-11 on the Disney+ show, which received 15 nods overall. Kiwi dancer and choreographer Parris Goebel also received an Emmy nomination for outstanding choreography on Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty runway show at New York Fashion Week, which was picked up by Amazon Prime Video.
