Steel worker named


Aman killed while working at a steel factory in Christchur­ch has been identified as Chesco James Krueger. It is believed Krueger died when hewas struck by a piece of steel at United Steel in McAlpine St, Wigram, just after 2pm on Monday. Ben Hammond, the group health and safety manager for United Industries Ltd, which owns United Steel, said an investigat­ion was underway, and the site was closed on Tuesday and yesterday. He said the companywas ‘‘deeply saddened’’ by the fatal incident andwas providing support to employees.
