Devine wins WBBL award

White Ferns captain Sophie Devine has been chosen as the outstandin­g individual of this season’sWomen’s Big Bash League Twenty20 competitio­n in Australia after shining with the bat for her Perth Scorchers side. The Scorchers opener scored 448 runs prior to the playoffs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 130.23, averaging 55. She made one century, three half-centuries, struck 18 sixes – three more than any other player – and took five wickets. Devine led the votingwith 31 votes, ahead of Melbourne Stars skipper Meg Lanning (29), Sydney Thunder’s Heather Knight (28), Brisbane Heat’s Grace Harris (22) and Sydney Sixers’ Alyssa Healy (22).
