Man remanded in custody after firearms incident
A man who was arrested after a firearms incident, which sparked a large armed police response in Christchurch on Thursday, has been remanded in custody. Brandon Jarden, 23, appeared in Christchurch District Court yesterday before Judge Quentin Hix. He has been charged with assault, threatening to kill, unlawful possession of a pistol, presenting a pistol, possession of methamphetamine utensils, possession of a cannabis pipe, and conspiring to supply methamphetamine. Jarden also faces a charge relating to an alleged refusal to carry out obligations in relation to a police search. The judge refused bail, with Jarden to appear again on May 19.
