Cinema to open in July

-

A new New Zealand-owned cinema is set to open in Christchurch. Silky Otter Cinemas is expected to open in July at The Landing in Wigram – the suburb’s local shopping area. Silky Otter Cinemas chief executive Neil Lambert promised premium premises alongside modernised, immersive viewing and no ads. Movies would range from blockbusters to art house films, ‘‘and everything in between’’, he said. The complex would have eight cinema screens, each seating 48 people. Lambert, a Cantabrian, had been working on the cinema idea for 15 years, and had plans to expand to Nelson and Queenstown. He said the cinema’s goal was for people to enjoy movies ‘‘the way they are meant to be seen ’’.
