Kiwi in chasing pack

New Zealand’s Patrick Bevin finished fifth on stage three of the Giro d’Italia as breakaway rider Taco van der Hoorn narrowly held off the chasing pack. Van der Hoorn, a Dutch rider, was the last remaining member of an early breakaway in the 190km from Biella to Canale. He finished four seconds in front of the main pack. Another New Zealander, George Bennett, finished safely amongst the main pack, registering the same time as the other general classification favourites.
