Grizzlies win minus Adams

-

Steven Adams is on the verge of being a game away from becoming one of the NBA’s most memorable disappearing acts. The New Zealand centre again went unused by the Memphis Grizzlies in their latest NBA playoff game against the Minnesota Timberwolves yesterday. But when it looked like the home side would fall 3-2 behind in the best-of-seven series, star guard Ja Morant stepped up. Morant produced one of the best dunks seen in a playoff match in NBA history in the third quarter with Memphis trailing by double digits. They were still down 13 early in the fourth quarter but pulled their way back and went in front with a Morant three-pointer with 63 seconds left. The Timberwolves looked set to take the game into overtime when Anthony Edwards sunk a three with 3.7 seconds remaining, only for Morant to make a difficult lay-up with one second left to give Memphis a 111-109 victory. Despite using 10 players to defeat the Timberwolves, Memphis did not give Adams a second of action. The 28-year-old has now played just seven minutes in the past four games after logging 24 minutes in game one, a 130-117 defeat.
