Nothing new
After reading yesterday’s front page story, Buses hit by eggs, water balloons, from my own experience as a bus driver to Sumner several years ago, out of control, unsupervised youths throwing things at buses for kicks is nothing new.
Unlike other places in Christchurch, Sumner is awash with recreational facilities for young people. These include sports parks, a picture theatre, skateboard ramp, library, great beaches and yachting and surf lifesaving clubs.
Clearly laying on too much for them hasn’t always worked, as some still persist in unsociable behaviour and vandalism.
Is there something in the sea water causing this, or possibly, could more parents in Sumner start taking a proactive interest with their children after school?
