A weekend of artistic inspiration

-

Renowned for exhibiting the cream of artists, both national and international, Windsor Gallery has a strong focus on contemporary works that transform vast wall spaces into something truly magnificent.

Exhibiting artists range from emerging to those who are well-established and acclaimed, co-owner Tracey Wynands says.

"We hold two Art Shows a year, at the beginning of May and November, with new works from artists coming in throughout the year. This weekend members of the public are encouraged to embark on a captivating journey into the world of art as Windsor Gallery hosts an Art Show showcasing a wide variety of works from renowned local and international artists.

The much-anticipated event takes place this Saturday and Sunday 4th and 5th May at Windsor Gallery, a destination held in the highest regard by art enthusiasts. With more than a century of commitment to its patrons, Windsor Gallery is the perfect backdrop for an event that promises a delightful blend of artwork to savour.

Dive into the creative hubs of Pearce Malcolm, Zoe Marsden, Jane Shriffer, and Anne Baldock, remarkably diverse artists who will be unveiling their masterpieces during this spectacular open weekend. Windsor Gallery will play host to over 50 artists, providing a kaleidoscopic of artistic expression that is bound to inspire. Revel in an alluring collection of mediums, from clay, bronze, and stone sculptures to photography, acrylic, oil, and mixed media paintings.

Pearce Malcolm's sculptures, impressive in their static yet evocative expressions, reflect a deep appreciation for a variety of subjects. His dedication to form and technique, coupled with inventive technologies, molds monumental works exuding an illusion of movement and change.

Zoë Marsden, an English contemporary artist based in Wellington, sketches the haunting beauty of derelict and abandoned urban landscapes into her creations.

Her success resonates through her accolades, including the Craigs Aspiring Art Prize and the New Zealand Paint and Printmaking Award.

Jane Shriffer, an abstract artist from Wanaka, adorns her canvas with layers of colour and texture.

Her intrinsic painting style, highlighted by her use of a palette knife, results in a rhythmic surface alive with movement.

Experience Anne Baldock's eclectic artistry, deeply influenced by everyday life and her surroundings in the Otago Peninsula.

Her diverse themes explore the land and its animals, architecture, social settings, and even surrealism. Her 3D works using plywood and acrylics are a testament to her creative adaptability.

The artwork of Sean Fietje transcends the boundaries of photo-realism, making his landscape paintings so vivid that viewers feel as if they are physically present in the scene.

His extraordinary artistic skills become even more apparent when art enthusiasts discover that they are actually admiring a painting, not a photograph.

The weekend promises substantial volume and variety with over 300 pieces of art on display, including abstracts, landscapes, photography, sculptures (bronze, stone, and wood), ceramics, and photo-realism.

Regular artworks by favoured artists such as Joel Hart, Matthew Williams, and Svetlana Orinko will also be showcased, making the event a must-visit display of artistic talent.

The open weekend is a free event, attracting hundreds of people with its vast collection.

With every piece for sale even those who aren't necessarily in the market for purchasing art are certain to succumb to the allure of the displayed pieces.

As co-owner Tracey Wynands says, with such a vast variety of artwork on display, there is bound to be something for everyone.

The esteemed Windsor Gallery not only holds a diverse collection of prints but also specialises in sourcing specific prints tailored to customers' needs.
